There’s nothing worse than feeling rushed!Ī few tips before you plan to make the trek out to Scribe: Meaning, we were really enjoying each other’s company and despite having a set time block because of all of the appointments Scribe had booked, they were accommodating and let us hang out a bit longer. What I like most about Scribe (besides the wine) is that they let you have the kind of experience that you want to have. We enjoyed a bottle of Chardonnay after our tastings The inside of the house had a rustic vibe going. Almost everyone became a member of Scribe’s wine club, so I know this will be a great place for all of us to regroup over summer and for seasons to come.Įnjoy some photos from our day under the Sonoma Sun! There are only a handful of Chardonnay’s that I actually like, and the aging process of this one really makes it special. The southwest border of Scribes property.

I enjoyed each wine we tasted but my favorite was the Skin Fermented Chardonnay. The volcanic, ashy and mineral-rich soils of the cool-climate Sonoma region are ideal for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. A nice bonus was that we were treated to a cheese/snack board and it was the perfect compliment to all of the wine we sampled. Once we were made aware of what makes Scribe so unique, we were introduced to the wines we would be tasting: the Estate Riesling, Chardonnay, Skin Fermented Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The name? Founder Andrew Mariani and his team consider themselves “scribes” of the land and the winery is a testament to that. Once we checked in, our host for the afternoon gave us the history of the property (dating back to 1858 all the way through Prohibition) and about the people behind Scribe. But the grown up, hip version of day camp and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. Once I got out of the car, it felt like I had arrived at day camp.

Keep going and it leads you to the top of the hill, where the tasting room and picnic tables are. I drove from Sacramento to meet everyone and it only took me an hour and some change – not bad! When arriving at the vineyard, a long row of palm trees guide you to a dilapidated hacienda that makes you feel like you are on a back road in Cuba instead of Sonoma. One of us had the idea to go to Scribe so we all gladly followed suit! I had seen the winery all over my Instagram feed, so I was pretty familiar with the place and was excited to finally visit. However, the amount of wine and food provided (for the Hacienda tasting at least) definitely justifies the price per person.A few of my best gals from my time in San Francisco and I got together to visit Scribe Winery in Sonoma. The only complaint we have is that we wish Scribe offered their members some amount of complimentary tastings like a lot of the other wineries do. Everything we tried was delicious including the huge board of food that came with our tasting! Our favorites were the rosé pét-nat (aka Pet Nasty according to Brigitte), the tomato and chèvre toast, and the corn fritters. Our sommelier, Brigitte, was down to earth, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable about the wines we were tasting. Our table was situated on the front porch of the Hacienda, facing part of the vineyard and palm tree-lined driveway and we could not stop obsessing over the view.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful and full of a variety of plants, and the Hacienda is the perfect blend of historical and modern. We made a day trip up to Sonoma this weekend in order to celebrate a very long July and pick up our Summer Allocation and from the minute we drove up, we were instantly relaxed. We’ve never tried any of their wines before and joined based off of what we saw in their online wine shop and are we glad we did! My partner and I decided to become members at Scribe so that we could visit with friends during a birthday trip that we have planned for December (Scribe has only been accepting reservations from their members since the pandemic).
